Our Open Spaces

Our Open Space team look after the appearance of the communal spaces around your home such as open spaces, play areas and internal communal areas.

Did you know we aim to plant 5,000 flowering bulbs every year to help improve the look of our estates and help the environment? Below you'll find information about how we look after our spaces.

Questions about our Open Spaces

How often do we check the trees in our open spaces?

Our trees are regularly surveyed to make sure they stay healthy and safe. We maintain and trim trees in autumn and winter so we don’t disturb nesting birds.

How often are our play areas checked?

Our Community Caretaking Team inspects them every week to keep them safe and welcoming. We also arrange quarterly and annual ROSPA inspections for extra peace of mind.

How often are internal and external communal areas inspected?

These areas are checked once a month by our Community Caretaking Team. They help us keep everything in good condition and allow us to spot any repairs or potential hazards early.

What do our community caretakers do around the estates?

You'll see them carrying out estate inspections, completing small repairs, supporting horticultural work, litter picking, helping with community events, removing graffiti, doing low‑level tree work, planting trees and bulbs, looking after play areas, and replacing signage.

When do we cut the grass?

Grass is cut regularly from March to November. We clear away any litter first, and once cutting is finished, all grass cuttings are removed. Over winter, we still remove litter and keep edges neat.

How do you maintain hard surfaces?

Hard surfaces include pavements, pathways, communal spaces and car parks. Litter is removed regularly, and during the growing season we treat weeds to keep everything tidy.

How are shrub beds looked after?

They’re kept free of weeds and litter, and shrubs are pruned during the winter months.

How often are hedges cut and what does this include?

Hedges are trimmed twice a year. We remove brambles, weeds, nettles, litter and debris, and we take away all cuttings on the same day to keep the area tidy.
