Wildfire prevention tips

Following the recent heatwave and current government fire alert, it's important we all play our part to prevent wildfires.

Please:

  • Don't light fires in the countryside, parks, moorland, or woodland.
  • Only use barbecues in designated areas where they are permitted.
  • Fully extinguish barbecues and campfires with water before leaving.
  • Take all litter home, especially glass bottles, which can help start fires in dry conditions.
  • Never throw cigarette ends onto roadsides, pavements, parks, or grassy areas

If you see a wildfire, move to a safe space and report it by calling 999.

A small action can prevent a major fire and help keep our communities safe. For more wildfire safety tips, please visit here.
