How our Community Skills Development team helped James

Our Community Skills Development team work hard to support local people in our communities.

James was referred to the Raising Aspirations programme for support with confidence building and looking for employment. He met with his mentor Sarah every fortnight at Frodsham library and they discussed his goals.

James has a passion for woodwork and creates shelves, book ends, tables. and more. Sarah supported him to apply to the Young Traders initiative at Frodsham market where he successfully secured a stall to show his work every Thursday over the next 6 weeks.

Sarah even went with him on his first day to help set up and support him!

James said “The Raising Aspirations programme has really improved my confidence and been so helpful to me. It was local, in person and easy to access. Meeting with Sarah has given me new opportunities and I'm looking forward to growing my business. It has been a brilliant confidence building experience, I wouldn’t have been able to do this and achieve the things I have without the programme so thank you.”

Sarah said: “Seeing James improve his confidence has been really rewarding as a mentor, I’m really proud of how far he has come and look forward to seeing what he achieves in the future.”
