Alan, a much-loved resident of our Independent Living schemes, has celebrated his 99th birthday today surrounded by friends, neighbours and staff.
Alan has been part of our Independent Living community for 28 years, first living at Meadow Court before moving to Moretons Meade six years ago.
To mark the big birthday, friends and neighbours joined together in the communal lounge at Moretons Meade to celebrate with him. Our staff also presented him with a birthday card and large “99” balloon in honour of the milestone birthday.
Mark Harnett, Older Persons Services Team Leader, said: “Alan is an extremely popular gentleman and a valued member of the Moretons Meade community. He has an encyclopaedic knowledge of a wide range of subjects and a wonderful sense of humour, particularly when sharing stories from his many adventures. His remarkable experiences include travelling around the world as a paying passenger on cargo ships and pursuing his passion for aviation as a private pilot. Alan’s stories never fail to entertain those around him. We are delighted to celebrate this incredible milestone with him and wish him a very happy 99th birthday.”
