Working with JV North
Its been great to work with JV North Housing on our showcase week. Developing affordable homes in Cheshire and Warrington remains a key focus for us, whilst continuing the additional support we offer our customers such as money, benefit and work support, all of which are key to sustainable communities.
Our development framework focuses on delivering high quality new homes across areas of high demand.This will see the Trust build over 150 new homes every year from 2021 to 2026. Our strategy concentrates on developing brownfield sites wherever possible while considering the challenges parts of our rural communities face such as being priced out of the areas they live and work in. We work closely with neighbourhoods and communities with close consultation to deliver much-needed homes that are sensitive to locations.
Assistant Director of Development, Jo Fallon, said: “The property market in which we operate is extremely competitive having some of the most affluent and desirable areas in the North West but conversely, also home to communities of significant deprivation.
“Demand to live here drives up property and land prices with an average house valued at over £250,000 leaving many local people priced out of the market. We are working closely with our local authority partners and other key stakeholders to ensure we are addressing this in a strategic way.
“We intend to build over 750 homes in the next five years through JV North’s framework that will meet local needs and offer a variety of tenure types.”
JV North is a consortium of housing associations and local authorities from across the North West and is one of the biggest developers of new social homes in the UK. Formed in 2007, they have invested over £1 billion in partnership with Homes England. This has seen members build the equivalent of 3.5 homes every working day to help address the housing crisis with nearly 10,000 properties in total.
