Weaver Vale Housing Trust marks Employability Day 2020 by promoting support for jobseekers in Cheshire
We are showcasing the support available to help local residents into work as part of National Employability Day 2020 today (Friday, June 26).
The annual event highlights the work of employment support agencies in helping people to secure employment and training. This year it is being run as a virtual event with providers across the country.
Our work team has produced a series of videos providing top tips for job seekers which they will be sharing with residents throughout the day, as well as promoting the support available through its Employment Horizons and New Leaf teams.
Employment Horizons usually works in community venues across Cheshire but has been keeping the service running during COVID19 with advisors working from home providing tenants with virtual support with CV writing, job searching, interview skills as well as providing funding for work clothes and vocational training.
The New Leaf project is available for any residents in Cheshire that face barriers to employment, providing mentoring, money advice, counselling and training, along with confidence building support and voluntary and work placements.
Sarah Saward, Head of Income at WVHT, said: “National Employability Day is a great way to highlight the wealth of employment support that is available for tenants to access and prepare for job opportunities.
“We know that this kind of support can be crucial in breaking down the barriers that can prevent people from moving into employment. With COVID19 continuing to create new challenges for many, particularly with higher numbers of local people being made redundant, it’s never been a more important time to raise awareness of the help available.”
All the employability services provided by WVHT are free to access, Anyone interested in finding out more can refer themselves by email Workteam@wvht.co.uk or by phoning/texting 07525 668971.
