National Social Housing Safety & Compliance Week

We’ve been taking part in National Social Housing Safety & Compliance Week, an annual event, dedicated to shining the spotlight on safety and compliance at an operation, strategic and cultural level, Jack Newell, our Compliance Officer tells us more.

"The purpose of the Compliance Team is to review, implement and deliver all statutory compliance requirements in line with legislation, best practise and internal policies and procedures to ensure the continued safety of our customers, colleagues and anyone else affected by what we do. The key areas covered in the Compliance Team, but not limited to, are Gas Servicing, Electrical, Fire Safety, Asbestos, Water Hygiene, Lifting Equipment, Play Areas, Street Lighting, Trees and Fire Doors.

"We ensure all items that fall under these areas are serviced as required, maintained and actioned as necessary to ensure compliance with statutory duties. This critical compliance information is reported weekly to senior managers within the Property Services Directorate and regularly to our Executive Management Team and Board for review. Maintaining 100% Compliance across all areas is key to what we do and by doing so we are ensuring the continued safety of our customers.

"We are committed to supporting the National Social Housing Safety & Compliance Week, ensuring we keep our customers and colleagues safe is our number one priority here at the Trust, and this is such a great opportunity for us to be part of a national conversation about our shared goal, safer homes."
