Amanda hasn’t been a tenant with Weaver Vale for very long but was keen to get involved to ensure not only that the Trust can have the perspective of a younger person but also to raise awareness of issues to do with childcare and special needs
“I think it’s important that tenants can comment on polices and are able to give their perspective on issues that help shape services,” she says. “I'm a full-time carer for my autistic son and so even though I haven’t got a great deal of time to spare I’ve been pleased that I’ve been able to have my say and make a difference.”
Amanda used to work in finance before her son’s diagnosis, she enjoys walking and writes a popular blog on parenting
She thinks other tenants should consider getting involved.
“There are all levels of involvement at the trust for those who want to get heavily involved to those who can only spend a few hours on something. It’s a great way to build confidence and self esteem.”
