Jessy's Apprenticeship Journey

It’s National Apprenticeship Week this week!  We have two members of our staff, sharing their apprenticeship journey here at the Trust.

To find out more about apprenticeships visit -  and for more information about apprenticeships at the Trust search ‘apprenticeships’ on our website and keep an eye out on the Careers section of our website for future vacancies

When did you start as an apprentice at the Trust?

I started as an apprentice at the Trust December 2018.

What was the title of your apprenticeship and what is your role now?

The title of my Apprenticeship is Work and Enterprise Apprentice and my current role in the Trust is for a Customer Experience Ambassador.

How did you hear about the Trust apprenticeship?

I heard about the Apprenticeships at Weaver Vale through a friend of mine who worked here as an Apprentice and then I kept an eye out on the Weaver Vale Website to see when one came up.

Had you come from school/college/another place?

I finished college in June 2018 and went full time working in a restaurant and then left there to join the Trust.

Why did you choose an apprenticeship and one here at the Trust?

I had heard great things about working here and I did some research on the Trust and I have always been interested in housing. The salary for an Apprenticeship at the Trust was excellent and it seemed the next career step for me

What benefits for do you think, and apprenticeship has given you?

Doing an Apprenticeship has allowed me to gain great confidence and knowledge about the company and working in an office. I can now speak to people a lot more confidently and have widened my range of skills.

What else are you studying alongside your apprenticeship?

I applied for a permanent job in the Trust (my current role) and luckily got it, I am learning this new job while still completing my Apprenticeship in Business Administration Level 3 NVQ alongside.

What would you say to someone considering applying for an apprenticeship at the Trust?

I would definitely recommend an Apprenticeship at Weaver Vale for a first step to get into working for an organisation and having a routine. I wouldn’t have got the job I am in now if I hadn’t of studied my Apprenticeship and my confidence and overall business knowledge has expanded massively.

What are your future ambitions?

I am settling into my new job nicely and I am thoroughly enjoying it. Working inside the Trust means there is always room for improvement and next steps, so I hope to progress even further from where I am now.
