Regulation
Regulation…who does what?!
Our regulator, the Tenant Services Authority (TSA) closed on April 1 2012 and transferred its regulation functions to the ‘Regulation Committee’ of the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) on Monday 2nd April.
Before the transfer the TSA published a revised Regulatory Framework and co-regulation remains central to this framework.
What is co-regulation?
It is the Board of the Trust that will now take responsibility for the commitment to meeting the standards set down in the Regulatory Framework and ensuring that they are able to demonstrate how they have met those standards, particularly to you, our customers.
The HCA will act as regulator dealing with economic regulation, and latterly as a consumer regulator for social housing.
Some changes have been made to the framework, including some to the standards such as the value for money, which now sets out a clear set of expectations of us.
We will be giving you further updates on these changes in the lead up to the next Annual Report in October 2012.
