Snow Angels

Snow Angels is a pilot scheme being operated in Northwich, Winsford and surrounding villages.

The scheme is being operated through the cooperation of partner organisations such as Weaver Vale Housing Trust, Age UK, Cheshire Fire & Rescue, Cheshire Police, Cheshire Community Development Trust and through time given by volunteers.

The scheme aims to assist older and vulnerable people in periods of severe weather by providing practical help and advice, such as shopping, path clearing, help with heating problems, delivery of meals etc. As part of the scheme eligible customers will receive a weekly telephone call, in severe weather eligible customers will receive daily calls and visits by Snow Angel volunteers if any major problems arise. 

All customers will receive thermometers, advice about such things as claiming benefits,   fire safety checks. Referrals can be made to other agencies with the customer’s permission.
